Waiting to Die (Clergyman, Kristin Carosotto)

God has taken his wrath out on this country for a reason that I cannot comprehend. People are being slain all around me for reasons that are not justified through evidence. The people of my dear country of france are going mad! As an imprisoned clergyman, and a son of god, I can rightly say that the ways of the people, that I used to adore, are now morbid and disgraceful. The early days of september have been stained with blood, but celebrated by the citizens who spill it. I personally predict that this will happen to me in my near future. The only reason that I could create for the slaughtering of clergymen is our refusal to take an oath submitting to the civil constitution of the clergy, a law that put the church of france under the control of the new french government. We understand that the parisians do not want an absolute monarchy ruling over them, but the way in which they are handling this revolution is barbaric and non-civilized. We clergymen are only standing up for the beliefs of the church. Unfortunately, in the next few days of this year, 1792, you may find my body on the cold hard ground of this cell that I am imprisoned in, the same spot that I am writing this to you. But know, I died promoting the great ways of god. May the souls of the newly transformed parians be blessed forever and may they realize the actions that they are committing are wrong in the ways of god.

  1. Jacobin (J. Bernard-Sasges) I now see what my dedicated colleagues have said. They are more than right when they say that clergymen are good-for-nothing absolute monarchy-lovers, and I cannot stand to see them with a head on their shoulders. The September massacres were a great feat by us patriots, and we will stand proud of our actions. Leave it to the rich, tax-free clergymen to oppose la liberté! As long as this continues to happen, I will be more than happy to see their heads fall to the ground lifeless.

  2. Royal Family (spencer) I am still utterly breathless with the complete inhumanity of this whole situation. It's shocking to think that just a few years ago, we never thought any of this would happen. I was taken aback when I heard about the first or many victims of the cruelty, that is the September Massacre. This is such an uncalled tragedy, not to say it was unprovoked, it needs to be ended NOW! The jacobins are cruel, heartless people who have no understanding for humanity. They can't be sane in the slightest respect.
