Voltaire (M. Gempp)
Hello, my name is Francois-Marie Arouet, also known as Voltaire. I was born on November 21, 1694, in Paris, France. I had 4 older siblings, I was the youngest in my family. When I was 7 years old, my mother passed away, and my godfather taught me about his free-thinking ways. In 1704, I started to work more on writing at College Louis-le-Grand. During the Enlightenment Era, I believed that everyone had the freedom of thought, and I defended it in my writings by targeting aristocrats and corruption. I used sarcasm and wit in my writings and was a critic to the French authorities, and eventually, this had me sent to the Bastille prison twice and then banned from Paris, where I was then sent to England for 3 years. Once I returned to Paris, I continued to write. I wrote about the political and religious freedom. many people did not like my ideas of these freedoms. But everyone should be able to say what they think. The classes of France make everything extremely unfair for the 3rd estate, and I think that everyone gets freedom of thought.
