September Massacre- Working Woman (Nick DiBiasio)
It is the summer of 1792, The "Reign of Terror" as what us citizens call this phase of the Revolution, and life has been nothing but hard. Everyday woman like me go to work starving, and come home to babies in need of food. As of right now anti- government mob's are occupying the streets waiting to prey on citizens and higher ranking officials that oppose the new National Assembly and everything in-between. Everyone apposing the new government views including children and woman have been thrown into prison such as almost 1,000 prisoners have been captured and thrown into prison, some even killed. Since rumors have spread that the Prussian army and maybe more will or even have occupied the city, mob's have amped up the force. In september, on a autumn, windy, chilly day, what I witnessed while coming home from work will always be in my mind. As a group of priests were being transported to prison, a group of mob members attacked the bus killing almost all of the priests. Apparently the mob's want all higher officials killed before Prussia comes in. Honestly, I just want security and safety while I live and commute to work. Over the following weeks, many more priests and higher ranking officials were killed. This long, gruesome, and scary couple of weeks have been a nightmare to some of us. Even weeks after that, our city has been full of raids and terror, no wonder why this part of the Revolution is considered radical. I just hope it ends soon.
