September Massacres (Lauren Chapski)

Working Woman (Lauren Chapski)
The French Revolution is at its peak, and the "Reign of Terror" is living up to its name already. The Jacobins are hungry for revenge and demand nothing less than satisfactory . As a result, people are being slaughtered, mutilated and tortured in the streets. I look on from my window in terror as I see families ripped apart and then killed right in front of each other. Of course I am happy the upper class is getting what they deserve, but I can not seem to shake the feeling of guilt weighing heavy on my conscious. I see the people being tortured and my instinct is to help, however I soon remember the unjust and corrupt society we have.  Although our new government is weak and in the progress, I already completely support it, as well as the decision of our people. This new government will lower my taxes and benefit us in ways I could never imagine. It may sound harsh but I think the September Massacres are worth it. The suffering is not pointless, it serves purpose and is necessary in the fight for freedom.

  1. Royal Family (J. Horgan) You say you'd rather have these circumstances than the ones we put in place. But you wouldn't know a good thing if it hit you straight on. This government that's being run now is cruel, horrid, and just bloody. The royal family has at least protected you from that. Now everyone is being killed on sight for "suspected" disloyalty. I say, that these new "rulers" are worse than us and you should have been thankful for what we gave you.
