"Liberty, Equality, Fraternity"

Jacobin (S. Basler)
Is it better to be ruled by a monarch or to have freedoms? Is it better to have no say in the government, or to be able to be a part of it. I firmly believe that it is the right of every citizen to have "liberty, equality and fraternity". As a member of the Jacobins, I know that it is our job to ensure that every person is given these privileges. When we say liberty, we mean that there is no monarchy, rather a republic. Equality means that everyone is equal under the law. Fraternity means that we will all work together to create the best country possible. In my opinion, this is the only way to live. When we had a monarchy, none of us had any say, yet we made up ninety-seven percent of the population. Why didn't we have any say? According to the nobles, it was because we weren't worthy of their "status". That is why we need to change our country. And in order to change it, we have to get rid of everyone who does not believe that this is the best way to live. Once we accomplish this, we can best assure that everyone has "liberty, equality, and fraternity"!.

  1. Thomas Hobbes (J. Horgan)
What good has trying to obtain "liberty, equality, and fraternity" done? None! What France needs is a stable way to get back on its feet. If we don't control the people now, they will think that they will have free will. We can't predict what they will do next, having their bad nature. Efficiency and order will help to organize the country into a functioning manner. And of course we can still have equality.
