Thomas Malthus Post #2 (Brian C.)

Yes, shifting jobs overseas to take advantage of cheap labor sources and natural resources is the best possible solution for our economy. The amount of humans in the world is increasing exponentially (ex: 2,4,8,16,32), while the amount of resources we are making for ourselves is only going up linearly (2,4,6,8,10). Creating products in the US is much more expensive than creating the same products overseas. Taking advantage of cheap labor and natural resources overseas will increase the amount of resources (manufactured and natural) for OUR country, in turn giving ample opportunity for those lower in society not to worry about prices of basic staples, but to focus their attention and concern to contributing to society. If we cannot have the means for basic survival, then society cannot advance, and the only way to keep basic survival from being an issue is to shift jobs overseas to take advantage of cheap labor sources and natural resources.

  1. Young Coal Miner (Alec Gannon) I work because I yearn for the day I can see the change I have made. I work so hard because of the country I am doing it for. The working conditions are life threatening, but you say a pay check can compensate for this. Well once workers overseas complete the same job for a cheaper price, what will they have to compensate for their injuries? How can you consider abandoning ethics and working these people until they die. If a successful country is what you are looking for we need nationalism. We need to manufacture our products and complete our labor here in Britain, and we need to do it with pride. We need to do this in seek of the success we wish to see.

I could agree with you more Malthus. You're right, it is all about our country and our economy! I completely agree we need to take advantage of cheap labor sources and natural resources so that we are able to sell products cheaper, and sell more of the products. As I see it there should be no confusion, this is the way it should be keeping the weak, poor and weak, and the strong, wealthy and powerful!

Mr. Malthus, you stated that it is all about our country and our economy. What happens when workers like me refuse to get shipped over seas for new jobs? When a majority of workers revolt, our country and economy wouldn't be where it was. Our work and family is the only thing we know and if that get's taken away, well then something is wrong. To improve economy we should hire more workers in Great Britain and that would make our nationality rise because more people are getting paid. There are other alternatives to shipping jobs overseas.

I wholely disagree with Thomas Malthus' opinion to outsource jobs to foreign countries to lower product costs. This lowering of product cost will be completely useless if citizens in our own country can't afford to purchase said product. Citizens would not be able to afford these products because they would be out of their own jobs because Mr. Malthus believes that workers in other countries would be more effective. Keeping jobs in our own country would maintain our economy and help innovate our country and society.

I disagree, going over seas is not the best possible solution for our economy. In order to go overseas, receive the goods, and head back, alone with the correct supplies needed for the trip, we will be using a lot of money we could use for something else. We can work on our cities and improve them with the money we would use to go overseas. Also, we don't know what happens over on another country, so we can't trust them as much as out neighboring countries that we know we can trust. We should stay on our side of the world, we can improve our own country by fixing it and getting our own resources and having our economy goes rather than leave it breaking and falling and having to trust another country to give us their resources.
