Quarter 2 Assignment 2

Friedrich Engels (E. Abbott)

To send people to other countries to receive natural resources would be completely unnecessary because  we have enough resources of our own. To send people overseas would be ridiculous because instead we could become friendly with these countries who have the resources we want. With being friends with them could provide our country with a friend and an ally for the future. Besides just sending people in to take resources to bring back we could negotiate with a country. Decide it's better to be friends and if they provide us with things we could maybe provide them with resources. Also, in the future if we need a country as a friend or to provide us with other things that we don't have we will have a country at hand instead of a country we are just stealing from. If we are going into this Industrial Revolution we need supporters. We shouldn't have to send people into these countries though, we should take matters into our own hands as a whole country. Not everyone can be trusted anyway so how can we trust them to provide for our country in other countries? We can't. That is why we shouldn't send people into other countries to receive natural resources.

As Mr. Engels states, we should not shift jobs overseas. He is entirely correct in this aspect. We must remember as citizens, before making a decision, to ask ourselves, "Is this for the greater good of our people?" In the case of outsourcing, it is not. Our people will suffer if they lose their jobs. Although we will not be sending people away or stealing resources, we still cannot outsource our labor. Outsourcing labor is the process of paying less for labor that is done by others for less money in another country. Even though we wouldn't be stealing resources or sending people away, these are great metaphors for how bad it would be to outsource our labor. We must act for the greatest good of our people.

  2. As you said, we should not shift jobs overseas. We have to focus on our own country and what is good for our own country. Right now, the industrial revolution is taking a toll on us. This is not a bad toll. Wages are going up so why should we go to other countries? A classless society is far more important than sending our people to get natural resources. So, you are correct Mr. Engels, we do not need to shift jobs out of the country. It's completely unnecessary. We have all that we need, it's right in front of our eyes. We just have to work a little harder for it.
